We have recently introduced insertion fees in our Cars & Bakkies, Classic & Vintage Cars, Property, Jobs and Services categories. We felt that if you've got multiple ads at a time you're probably running a business. The fee is aimed at keeping Gumtree fair and providing lots of opportunities for private individuals. We also implemented these changes to target spam and fraud.
 
The number of free ads allowed in the categories:
 
Cars & Bakkies Category: 5 free ads 

Motorcycles & Scooters Category : 3 free ads

Classic & Vintage Cars Category: 3 free ads

Properties Category: 4 free property ads are allowed in each individual subcategory. This includes all the property categories except for the “Houses and Flats for Sale” and “Land and Plots for Sale” categories.
 
Services Category: 8 free ads 
 
Jobs Category: 2 free ads
